Cricket Practice Nets & Bowling Lanes

Cimarron Sports baseball and cricket practice netting are entirely interchangeable. A cricket ball weighs 5.5 oz to a baseball’s 5 oz and leaves the cricket bat just as hard, so the same nets and steel frames that serve commercial baseball facilities handle full-pace cricket practice without modification. An enclosed cricket bowling cage contains the ball — the practical choice for a backyard cricket net, a school gym or a shared multi-use indoor cricket facility. A modified open-ended net lets either the ball escape at the end or allows the bowler run-up space. Custom cricket nets and professional installation services are available!

Choosing the Right Cricket Practice Net

Can a Batting Cage Be Used for Cricket?

Almost as-is. The netting, frame and dimensions all carry over — a cricket ball at 5.5 oz is only marginally heavier than a 5 oz baseball, and a batting cage is already built to stop it. The one real difference is the bowling end: a baseball cage is enclosed at both ends, while a cricket bowling net stays open so the bowler can run through. Cimarron will cut one end off a batting cage net for $150, turning a standard cage into a proper bowling lane.

Why Choose Cimarron for Cricket Netting?

Every net is made from a never-recycled premium polymer blend — UV resistant, waterproof and abrasion resistant. Nets are hand sewn, so a lane can be built to any length, width or height, with access doors or a bowling machine opening wherever you need them. Frames are 1.5" steel and can be fixed or relocatable.

What Size Cricket Net Do I Need?

Lane Length

A practice lane usually runs 65 to 80 feet. The pitch is 22 yards wicket to wicket and the rest is run-up — a fast bowler needs far more of it than a spinner, so measure the run-up you actually use.

Width and Height

Typically 10 to 12 feet each. Go to 12 feet of height on anything longer than 36 feet so a lofted shot stays inside the net.

Net Weight

#42 and #45 absorb repeated fast bowling and bowling machine work. #60 is built for facilities running all day; #24 is enough for a junior squad or a backyard lane.

Indoor and Multi-Lane

The same netting serves both — UV resistant and waterproof outdoors, identical material for a gym or sports hall. For cricket academy builds, dividing nets let squads bat and bowl side by side without balls crossing over.

Custom Nets & Installation

For commercial cricket facilities, our installation team handles the build from planning through final inspection — the same crew that has installed netting for high schools, colleges and training facilities. Send your dimensions or a site plan and we will quote the project.
